My sister told me that I HAD TO check out Mongolian Throat Singing when I was in Mongolia. I had no idea what to expect. What I found was a strong form of music, an unbelievable use of the vocal chords to create sound vibrations. You could literally feel them in your chest!
Mongolia is a vast, empty space - the least densely populated place in the world. And yet this music is so full, deep and rich. It is haunting hearing it boom out into the nothingness.

Of course with practice one can achieve more powerful sounds, and experienced throat-singers can use different vocal techniques like extra vibration, flourishes, and more than two notes at once. The website of the Alash Ensemble gives a good overview of five basic styles and their variations. But the basic concept and first steps are as I've described.
If you would like to share an instructional video that you found helpful, by all means do so.
If you sing, you are already producing the overtones! The trick is to not let all of the overtones be heard at the same time, which is what happens when you sing a note in the ordinary way.
